About the Drug Discovery Training Program

Drug Discovery Training Program

The Interdisciplinary Training Program for Infectious Disease Drug Discovery is operated under the USF Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation (CDDI). The purpose of this interdisciplinary research program is to promote and provide training to qualified doctoral students by integrating faculty research from Departments of Global Health (Public Health), Molecular Medicine (Medicine), and Chemistry (Arts & Sciences). This program will allow students to participate as team members in high profile drug discovery projects and promote development of efficient strategies able to solve global challenges fighting infectious diseases.

This award is to promote and train motivated and passionate doctoral students in a novel, interdisciplinary drug discovery program. Students will need to follow USF procedures and apply into the program of their major advisor. It is the responsibility of the applicants to follow the admissions requirements of 3 participating departments.

Trainees are eligible for selection into the program at the beginning of their second year of predoctoral training on the basis of their academic performance, mentor and peer recommendations, course and seminar presentations & participation, plus interdisciplinary and laboratory achievements.
